The short version
  • ✓Every guide is researched against primary and official sources and reviewed by the editorial team before it publishes.
  • ✓Time-sensitive facts — opening hours, train times, ticket prices, event dates — are flagged to verify rather than frozen into the prose.
  • ✓Recommendations are editorial and independent: no payment for inclusion, no affiliate links, no commission.

Who writes and edits these guides

tokyosuki's guides are written, edited and maintained by The tokyosuki editorial team. Compiled and maintained by the tokyosuki editorial team from official tourism boards, operator timetables and public data. Guides are reviewed and updated regularly. We don't accept payment for inclusion.

Each page carries a visible byline and a last-updated date, so you always know who stands behind the advice and when it was last checked.

How we research and fact-check

We build each guide from official tourism boards, transport operators and public data, cross-checked against primary and official sources. The small practical details — which line gets you there, which museum closes on Mondays, how early to arrive at Sensō-ji — are drawn from published sources rather than guessed. For history, geography and anything verifiable, we check against primary and official sources and prefer evergreen framing over numbers that drift.

We separate the durable from the perishable. The shape of the 23 wards, the story of the maneki-neko, the founding of the great shrines — these are stable, so we state them plainly. Prices, opening hours, train timetables and event dates change with the season and the year, so we flag them to verify on the day and point to the official source. Contested origin stories — like which temple the beckoning cat truly belongs to — are told as the competing claims they are, not as false certainty.

Independence and corrections

Recommendations are editorial. We accept no payment for inclusion and earn no commission on the restaurants, hotels, museums or tours we mention; there are no affiliate links here, and if that ever changes we will say so plainly on the page. Photography is either our own or used under licence with attribution.

We review the guides and re-check the seasonal details regularly against their official sources, and re-date pages when we revise them. If you spot an error — a moved venue, a renamed restaurant, a detail that has changed — tell us and we'll fix it and note the update. Reader corrections are one of the main ways the guide stays accurate between updates.
