The shape of it
About
Held by the Edo River near the nostalgic Shibamata district, the Katsushika Noryo fireworks send up roughly 20,000 shells from close range, so they fill the sky overhead. The 2026 edition marks the 60th anniversary with a special drone show alongside the fireworks.
Highlights
- About 20,000 fireworks fired from short range for an immersive, overhead display
- 60th-anniversary edition adds a special drone show over the Edo River
- Pairs naturally with a wander around retro Shibamata and Taishakuten temple
Plan it well
- Access from Keisei Shibamata Station (about 10 min walk) — go early and expect crowds
- Free riverbank viewing fills fast; reserved seats and resident lottery sell out
- Combine with the old-Tokyo Shibamata shopping street before the show
