The shape of it
About
Tokyo's biggest LGBTQ+ celebration centres on a festival at Yoyogi Park Event Square and a parade through Shibuya and Harajuku. Rebranded from Tokyo Rainbow Pride and now held in June (aligning with global Pride month) rather than its former April-May slot.
Highlights
- Free festival at Yoyogi Park with live stages, food and hundreds of community and corporate booths
- The Pride Parade, a roughly 3 km march through Harajuku and Shibuya
- Side programming such as Youth Pride and a human-rights conference
- Japan's largest and most visible LGBTQ+ gathering
Plan it well
- Note the change: it's now in June and rebranded Tokyo Pride — don't rely on old April-May dates.
- The parade is on the Sunday and typically steps off around midday; arrive early for a good spot.
- Yoyogi Park is right by Harajuku and Meiji Jingu, easy to combine into a day.
- Check pride.tokyo for confirmed 2027 dates and parade registration before booking.
